UPDATE from 23 March 2020
It is with sadness but with safety in mind that we decided to close the Scullin Traders due to the COVID-19 virus. Giving the uncertainty around the pandemic and with the safety of our volunteers in mind our 100% volunteer run project shut its doors. We remain confident this has been the right decision, and we can already see it will let us come back from a strong position – in whatever form is needed – after the pandemic is resolved. In the meantime, be kind to each other and please do stay connected with us via our social channels.
Our beautiful store stocks a number of Canberra creatives and local suppliers.
Baked goods like baklava and cookies come from the wholesaler baker behind our pop up store (we sublet the space from him); fresh sourdough is supplied by Woden’s Origin Bake; eggs come from Long Paddock at Bungendore; and we sell Riverina milk. We also sell the Canberra Times daily and on Saturdays we also sell the Saturday Paper and the Sydney Morning Herald newspapers.
There’s produce (and chocolate!) from the farmer’s outlet, Choku Bai Jo: many of our customers simply order a CBJ produce box online from us and pick it up in store at the Traders. (Deadline for orders is noon Thursdays. Pickup Friday 4-6pm or Sat AM.)
We are quickly becoming known as perfect spot for gifts: ceramics, cards, prints and larger artworks from local artists, jewellery, Canberra-authored books and gorgeous ‘living’ presents: magnificent indoor plants from Canberra greenery gifters Planted or gorgeous fresh flowers from local florist Kettle n’ Petal.
